NEASC Update 01/30/17: The Endicott Survey

Comrades!

I hope the dawn of the new semester finds you well. Personally, I am feeling jetlagged. My body is in Semester Two while a good chunk of my mind and diminishing attention is trapped in Semester One.
So it goes.
Your friendly neighborhood NEASC Steering Committee has signed South up for the mandatory Endicott Survey. The administrator, Endicott College, will send the survey out to our parents via email. Parents can take the survey either in English or in Spanish. The average parental return rate is about 20 percent. Hopefully, by talking it up a bit, we can do better.

Steering Committee Meeting Jan 9 and Questions Answered

The South NEASC Steering Committee met after school in the library to discuss the Wednesday (1/11/17) early-release schedule, where we will meet with George Edwards, a fellow who will serve as our NEASC guru. (Note: The Steering Committee has been using Doodle to schedule its meetings, and it seems to be working well.)

The schedule for the day will proceed thusly:
Meeting Times and Locations:

  • 11:15-11:45 – School Leadership Team – Main Office Conference Room
  • 11:45-12:45 – Steering Committee – Main Office Conference Room
  • 12:45-2:00 – Standards Chairs – Main Office Conference Room
  • 2:15-3:00 – Full Faculty – Auditorium

In other business, the Steering Committee attempted to answer a question posed by the Assessment Standards Committee: What are our 21st Century Learning Expectations?

A little research revealed that they are the school-wide competencies that we report on at the end of each semester. The rubric is linked here.

Shortly after the meetings with the NEASC guru, the Steering Committee will get together to schedule the survey and work out a timeline of due dates and deadlines for the self study.
